Magic Carpets

There is another kind of elegance that emerges when cars are photographed in isolation, unaccompanied by human presence. I created these light sculptures by placing LED lights around the signature lines of iconic cars of the sixties.

Poolside

Poolside – A hommage to the West Coast lifestyle in the 60’s.

This Is My Church

My focus is on the soul in surfing that captivates people from all generations and keeps them under its spell.

Soul Surfing

To me, this whole movement found its greatest expression in the 1970s – the decade where fantasy, spiritual exploration and body culture thrived. My images about surfing are inspired by the visual style of this time. An image of fine art photography of surfing in California

Epicenters

Nowhere else does the saga of the American Dream manifest itself to the extent that it does in the casinos of Las Vegas.

California Dreamin

…an idyllic world of leisure, bright light and utopian spaces in which it seems it will be afternoon forever, everybody will be beautiful and nobody will need to work.

Metamorphosis

A view at the spectacular Pudong skyline as it transforms through twilight.

Castles In The Sky

Dubai – Before visiting the city Fata Morgana came to mind, a term that denotes the most complex kind of mirages, which appear over the horizon.

The Luxor

I’ve always been intrigued by Las Vegas or rather the myth surrounding the most American of all American cities.

Teahupoo

Teahupoo on the island of Tahiti is known for it’s famous glassy reef break wave, which is probably the most renowned wave in the world.

Marshmallow Beach

This image is from the series Big Skies, which is an ongoing series of seascapes focusing on the sea and its horizon as a motif.

Port Stanley

Images from a recent boat trip visiting the Falkland Islands. Then rounding Cape Horn and sailing up the Strait of Magellan to Valparaiso.

Bismarck Strait

These images are the result of a trip I made to capture a range of seascapes depicting the enigmatic Antarctic Peninsula. The endless canvas of silver-white ice and grey-blue water is shimmering and mutable. Set in a pristine environment, untouched by civilization, the variety of forms and splendor of the ice formations are entrancing.

Big Bang

Las Vegas – Upon entering the city limits of this magical place, all reason seems to get abandoned in favor of optimism and hope.

Twilight

A view on Downtown New York as night falls and the city lights up.

Burj Khalifa

What drew me to Dubai was the phenomenon of the city: in a short period of time a barren strip of undeveloped desert land became the tallest city in the world. What was once a mere desert is now home to many of the world’s biggest innovative construction projects and modernist icons.

Artist Statement

I aim to capture the essence of a scene, be it an object, a location or an activity. I simply use the camera as an optical instrument with which to create abstract expressions of what I feel is present. Though remaining recognizable, the subjects are not represented exactly as they appear to the human eye. By submitting them to abstraction using a manual process, I intend to encapsulate an intrinsic quality. In effect, the images are perceived in a more intuitive way.
